A welcome cool campervan morning, after another hot sticky night. The sky has the faintest shades of pale orange in the cloud, just discernible amongst the mixture of cirrus and cumulus that pass above me. The planes are noisy this morning, blasting over the early morning songbirds. A single Robin in the Ash, also a feint Great Tit. The branches shake, sending autumnal debris to the floor, as a squirrel makes its way from Oak to Ash and then onwards. What few acorns the Oak has produced have begun to drop. The lush greens that surrounded me now looking dry and turning further yellow has the days march on. A couple of crows enter stage right to shake things up a bit, before soon departing in a flurry of noise and feathers. The usual far off cockerel makes itself known. A busy self care Sunday already, but here I am in my place under the Oak where, as Nikki Rowe notes :
“ I place my chaos to rest and awaken my inner peace.”
I love the idea of placing my chaos to rest. Not sure it’s always that achievable, but the Oak is my place and it’s always something to be alive to and work with.
I love Emerson when he writes :
“ In the morning a man walks with his whole body; in the evening, only with his legs.”
I am with my whole body at the moment. Reflecting on a fabulous day of community and connection with friends and new drummers. Particularly one family who seemed to have a ball, the usual uncertainties in the face of the Dad, the youthful energy of the son and the curiosity of the mother. All coming together for that moment, letting go, laughing and being together as a family in the moment, just great fun to witness and be part of. Contemplating the day ahead, with jobs to be done, life to live and trying to soak in this glorious early morning. As I say it’s self care Sunday, so do something for yourself today. I leave you with the sage like advice of William Blake. Lovely days people.
“ Think in the morning. Act in the noon. Eat in the evening. Sleep in the night.” William Blake.
