Ember of Hope.

A chilly evening, gives way to a bright and sunny campervan morning. The sun breaking over the trees and I am already bathed in warmth, another hot one apparently. Surrounded by birch, oak, maple and fir as well as a wee mist this morning. A couple of robins and blue tits flit here and there. Two rather enormous pigeons patrol the ground on the hunt for food, plus the lonesome cry of a single crow. The mist is quickly burning off and you sense the day to be another hot one. A short drive north east and ‘Flow ‘ brings me to the north of Norfolk and the quiet of North Walsham. Famous amongst other things for the final death throes of the peasants revolt of 1381. A cry out against serfdom and high taxes to name but a few, so nothing has really changed even today. Though has James Baldwin said :

“Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced“.

I suppose there is at this moment an ember of hope for change, while the scorched earth, blundering and plundering continues unabated. The joys of the ‘Monarchy of Corporations ‘ as Rebecca Solnit put it. A wee rumble of traffic here and there, but on the whole a quiet morning, no commuter thunder to deal with. Looking forward to a day of exploration with the inner historian to the fore today and rooting around in the peasants revolt and to be still in nature for a while. Lovely days people.
